Assoc. Pastor Sonya Hosey

Associate Pastor Sonya Hosey is a servant and a living testimony that He “was with me in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. My speech and my proclamation were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and power, so that (my) faith is not based on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.” (1 Corinthians 2: 3-5, HCSB). It is with prayer and faithfulness that she continues to mentor, exhort, encourage, and challenge all to pursue a transformed and renewed intimacy with Christ; and reach deeper into their calling and commitment to the Kingdom of God. She is the first daughter in ministry and co-laborer with her husband Rev. Wendell Hosey, Assistant Pastor of God’s Way Christian Baptist Church (GWCBC) – Rev. Dr. B. R. Reese, Senior Pastor of Taylor, Texas. She graduated from Sam Houston State University in Social Work, completed the University of Mary Hardin Baylor Christian Education program and the Word of Faith International Christian Center Bible School. Associate Pastor Hosey has a strong passion and commitment to local, regional and state-wide efforts to bring awareness, education and advocacy for families and individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health. Pastor Hosey’s leadership and grants experience was instrumental in funding of GWCBC – Wellness and Empowerment Community Ministries from the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health faith-based initiative which partners with families, clergy and health entities to educate about emotional health, recovery, and wellness to reduce stigma and shame about mental health.
