Evangelist Joseph Smith

Joseph Smith, was born and raised in Detroit, MI, witnessed his first man killed at eight yrs. old; began drinking at age eleven; doing drugs at age twelve and by age fifteen began selling drugs. But on June 5, 1978 at 12:00 midnight he gave his life to Christ. And although, he has worked as a design engineer for the nuclear power industry and owned his own architectural consulting business he has had only one passion and vision — to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and see souls come to His kingdom.

Over the years he has been successful in bringing large numbers of men to the Lord through various evangelistic methods, including street witnessing, campus evangelism, prison letter writing, door-to-door witnessing, as well as various Bible studies and outreaches.
Operating as an evangelist, youth pastor, administrative assistant and assistant pastor he has constantly taught seminars and workshops on the importance of witnessing, maintaining biblical priorities and time management.

He established a home for young men recovering from crack addiction and released from incarceration; a home for sexually abused and pregnant teenage girls (who were also active in gangs); and has mentored Blood, Crips, and Latin King gang members in the area of dropout prevention, curbing gang activity, gang deprogramming and salvation.

As a teacher in the Austin and Houston Public schools, he tutored and taught math in the toughest inner city-gang laden schools and yet managed to increase students’ math test scores by 100%.
He has attended Eastern Michigan University, Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC), in Atlanta, GA., and the University of TX, Austin. Currently, he is a faithful leader and Evangelism Coordinator at The House of Bread Ministries Church.

He is married to his loving wife of 27 yrs., Jolanda.
